You tubing at work makes you better employee

freedome to surg at work

According to Australian research cyber slacking during office hours boosts productivity.

Dr. Brent Coker form he University of Melbourne studied the habits of 300 workers and found that the large majority engaged in what he calls "Workplace Internet Leisure Browsing" (WILB)—surfing the Internet for personal reasons. But despite the common perception that such a behavior is a drain on employers, Coker says that these employees are able to focus better when performing tasks for work.

In his report, Coker said that 70 percent of workers engage in WILB, the most popular of which involved looking for information about products, reading news, playing games, and watching YouTube videos. “People who do surf the Internet for fun at work - within a reasonable limit of less than 20% of their total time in the office - are more productive by about 9% than those who don’t,” he says.

I think people need small Internet breaks to help them focus better , off course I don't mean go and spend your entire day bidding on eBay auctions, or online chatting but a much more positive light on workplace Internet surfing is needed .
don't you think?

Love the butterflies Sam and it's good to see someone promoting alternative thinking, trouble is surfing whether utube or otherwise can be very time consuming and thereby hangs a tale.

Fcebook is always more interesting at work, isn't it may be thy should pay us

Hi katyzzz,
surfing is really time consuming ,especially usually there is a lot to do work-wise in a limited time, so if you surfed link will lead to another and you will end taking some of the work home.

thank you both for stopping by

Where I work they have fairly stiff rules, but I'll tell you...in between report writing, etc., it is relaxing to surf a bit, at least for me.

Great blog, Sam!
