Don't do it When They Ask for It

June 3rd 2009 18:02
extraordinary babies

I was in this workshops where they distributed questionnaire for us to do , they gave them to one of the attendee, to pass them to the rest of the group and when the questionnaire paper reached to the lady beside me she just took hers and put the rest of the papers beside here . I asked her to pass me mine she said no. to tell you the truth ,I REALLY was taken by surprise,I just didn't EXPECT IT , I looked at here ,with a wondering expression all over my face, she smiled ,I asked her why?!,she said i just like to surprise people who are sure about what I should do. then she me questionnaire papers and since then we became good friends and she still mocking me about it .

There are many good business talks that I accept as helpful in my enterprise and personal lives. In all those speeches , there is vitally one goal:
to communicate effectively.
.

In order to achieve this major goal you need to win their undivided attention. I said win as there is too many things that compete with you to have your audience full attention like day dreaming, their ordinary lives and so on. So Be creative, and unforgettable. "Dare to try something out of the ordinary."

THINK of the stories you have heard from other speakers. Do you need to hear it again, and WHY?! .No wonder audiences become uninterested, and expect boredom--which take place way too frequently. Use the surprise factor. So the next time you speak, surprise your audience. Don't "pass the paper" just because they expect you to. Consider these different approach from norms:

  • The timing : If they expect to you talk for twenty minutes speak for five
  • but please never be late
  • Wear a costume
  • use this tip carefully, for example you don't want to be message taken as a jock. A good costume like wearing a T-shirt that displays your major key point or your logo
  • Use FUNNY version OF a rock star entrance
  • For example play a record of one of Presidential Song, it will create a natured laughter before you say a word.
  • put on unusual show
  • you can pop in an audio message or video message into your Power Point, giving mind grasping variety . Music helps, too. use different displaying material

in conclusion think outside the box, be resourceful but never away from good taste.
