How Keep your visitors From bouncing a way

June 30th 2010 20:15
So you started a blog for your business and you chose a creative design, clever copy and enticing call to action and you feel you got it all . But all that  can be a waste of time  if people not engaged with your content. Getting users engaged  can deliver your message , improve your Influence ,sale, subscriptions, bookmarking and return visits.

A term commonly used to measure visitors involvement is the bounce rate. The bounce rate is the percentage of  visitors who arrive to an entry then leave your site without checking any other page. A high bounce rate means that most your visitors are not fund of your service or blog content ,  and  they come from a search  they didn't find their answer or they don't like it, and hit the back button.

A low bounce rate means that visitors are looking around and browse  your website in greater detail. A good bounce rate is below 35%.

There are a few things you can do to reduce your bounce rate.

 Post Titles

Sometimes the writers try too hard in the pursue of catchy headline to the extent that it might seem unrelated to the article .  Don't  understand me wrong crafting a headline is is essential but unrelated headline will hurt your blog and increase your bounce rate .

In order  to bring visitors to your post ,you need a headline that is catchy and full of your target keywords in your post but to decrease the bounce rate and to  keep your visitor engaged you need an accurate related headline. Be as specific as possible.

RELATED Content
If a visitor landed on your one of your page looking for a specific inquiry ,she/he will stay around for a little longer if there are more about that topic. Make sure you know what is your readers are looking for and give it to them.

ADHERE to your blog category. write  follow up articles. Link to other posts of your blog/site whenever it's relevant. Have a Related Posts widget or Plugin. All these can decrease your site  bounce rate dramatically making your visitor stay and read more.

Provide an  excellent informations and links collections for your visitors so that they'll come  back to your site as a center of information. This will also boost your incoming links, because other site owners will want to give back .

Be a resourceful
In your blog content to deliver your message. You can use video images, flash files, etc as long as they don't increase the page loading time.

Provide an  excellent informations and links collections for your visitors so that they'll come  back to your site as a center of information. This will also boost your incoming links, because other site owners will want to reciprocate.

Show off your stuff

This is very essential . Make sure you know WHERE your visitors are looking. Sometimes you may think it's obvious, but you had better double check. Many blogger  get this  thing wrong ,they threw out a perfectly good design that unfortunatly doesn't show what they are marketing

Put your offers or the new  posts you want them read in an obvious place ,your optimal viewing area. that catches their eyes. For example at the top where you use a section saying special offer or featured article....

You can use   browser size from google  to check out where are the hot spots in your template design. If your relevant content is outside the viewing area your bounce rate will be high.

Page Load time

the faster the page lading time the lower the bounce rate.Don't make your visitor wait for long to read your post ,at least not longer that 8 seconds , longer than that your blog visitor will bounce back .

If your blog has  stuff like image or a videos, java scripts prevent it  from   loading ,then you need to remove them or find ways to decrease their size.

Place search on top

Putting a search box allowing your blog visitor search for the informmation they didn't  find or find out more and all related topic about their inquiry in your blog . So those visitors, especially  who do not find exactly what they want and who do not spot the search form will leave

You can Use an analytics tool like  Google Analytics or  Woopra to check the bounce rate.

So what kind of tactics do you use to keep your reader engaged.
