Self-Employment is a growing career option for many people. that is why in my last posts ( The solution for job loss and Self-employment: how to start up now? i was trying to put a guide to those who are considering building their career to be self employed
Although self-employment is an option for many people, it is not the right fit for everyone. It must be something you want to do, have to do, and not for lack of choice or lack of thinking about the process.
There are many myths about self-employment there,, and it is a must to look for truth about work at home. And we must know all the professional dive to the great big mysterious.
so here are the top 5 myths
Myth #1:: I’ll get to be my own boss–I won’t have anyone breathing down my neck anymore:
Even when you're self-employed, you are still not entirely your own boss. Certainly, no one from a technical point , tells you what TIME you have to be in the office every day, and when to take a lunch break, and when you can return to home, but the demands of clients often end up in determining the timetable for you. Your customers become your new BOSS . You can always l quit working with one of them, but you’ll lose that income, and you won’t always be in a position to take that risk
Myth #2: Being self-employed will make my life easier:
You may not have to wake up early and bear more ofrush hour traffic any more, but the truth is that when you’re in charge, you have a great deal of additional responsibility. You can not be lazy, because your income depends entirely on your own initiative. Also, to keep pace with the requirements of the Tax Department when you run your own business and not a picnic in the park. You can choose between many of the initial training and frustration while trying to break the tax forms and find out what you have to pay, and when (and why), or you pay an accountant to deal with them (which will add much to your expenses). Forms of tax mistakes can cost you hundreds of dollars in interest and penalties
Myth #3: I’ll have more vacation time and get to set my own schedule:
Holiday? What holiday? Small business owners often take fewer holidays and work longer hours on weekdays, and even work on weekends. If you are working on a project for a client, and may not be able to take leave in the middle of the assignment. If you have many customers, you may not be able to find the time you had things wrapped up with them all, and can go on a vacation. The result is that you do not take vacations at all, or come to your escape from the scene. Also, you’ll no longer have paid time off–any time you aren’t working is time you aren’t earning money.
Myth #4: It’s easy!
Successful self employment is a never-ending journey of job searches, networking, reputation-building, and skills maintenance. There is always some new program to learn, some new client to please, ans other new client who wants something out of the ordinary. Every single project must be tweaked to suit each and every buyer, and sometimes it's necessary to re-do a project several times before it's even accepted. The self employed are truly all on their own when it comes to paying their own health insurance, coming up with a retirement plan, doing their own taxes and finding their own work. There's nothing easy about being self employed.
Myth #5: self employed make a lot of money.
During the first few years of your new small business , you will earn less than employed friends. If you started your own business, you would no longer have an established, reputable company behind your name. Without that, you might not have access to clients who are willing to pay $175 an hour for your skills. at first. You can only charge as much as clients are willing to pay, after all. Your income also won’t be steady–it will depend on how much work you find and complete in a given month, and clients don’t always pay on time.
However, you will enjoy much greater income potential. In North America, 75% of millionaires are self-employed
To help you decide whether or not self-employment is your next career move, it's important to know and challenge these common myths
Bottom line,When it comes to it, if you are motivated, diligent, have a lot of links, and YOU know how to sell yourself, it is very possible that you will make more money and enjoy your work more when you run your own show . But if you really just want to get a consistent paycheck and keep the rest of your time to be free from anxiety and made available to pursue other interests, it would be better both mentally and financially as the other one
And finally you Will not know what is really up with self-employment and the spirit of initiative, until you attempt to do so yourself. After all, nothing ventured gained
